Responsibilities & Duties
- Work collaboratively as part of the team to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children and their parents/carers.
- Follow and uphold all nursery policies and procedures at all times.
- Act as a key person for a group of children, building strong relationships with both children and their families.
- Carry out regular observations to support children's learning and development, plan next steps, and complete progress reports every six months, sharing these with parents/carers.
- Plan and deliver engaging activities tailored to meet the individual needs of each child.
- Support and manage children's behaviour in a positive and encouraging manner.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment, including regular checks of toys and equipment for hazards or damage.
- Attend training (both in-house and external) to keep knowledge up to date on childcare practices, including safeguarding and first aid.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings, parents' evenings, open mornings, and nursery events.
- Take part in personal development reviews and annual appraisals led by the Nursery Manager.
- Report any concerns regarding children's care or development to the Room Supervisor or Senior Leadership Team.
- Supervise mealtimes and assist with preparing babies' bottles where required.
- Maintain high professional standards and act as a positive role model, including supporting students where appropriate.
- Contribute to daily and weekly routines, including tasks such as laundry, dishwashing, leading group activities (e.g. singing), and answering the telephone.
- Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times.
