Job responsibilities:
- Work independently under pressure and take responsibility regarding patient care across the Family Health departments.
- Book patients into the Department.
- Make clinic appointments.
- Ensure paperwork for clinics is collated.
- Work with the Department computer system, Lorenzo and Clinical Portal in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Deal with aggressive and abusive patients as necessary.
- Deal with enquiries, both by telephone and in person.
- Assist patients in the waiting area.
- Provide flexibility to cover annual leave and sickness.
- Participate in appropriate meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of personal health data.

Person Specification:
- Experience and Knowledge: Clerical experience, experience in Hospital Client/customer contact, organisational skills.
- Qualifications and professional training: Good standard of education.
- Skills and Abilities: Recognise the importance of punctuality, liaise and communicate with all disciplines, good communication and telephone skills, work as part of a team, conscientious and hard working, demonstrate understanding of patient confidentiality.
- Personal Qualities: Demonstrate good communication skills during interview, including listening and positive body language. Show insight into the needs of the organisation and patients/carers, displaying sensitivity and diplomacy as required. Willing to cover for colleagues during times of absence, sometimes at short notice.
