Job Salary and Working Hours: £27,371 - £28,074 annum based on an FTE of £25,660 - £26,320 per annum plus an additional allowance of £2,500 per annum. An average of 40 hours per week over a rolling 8-week shift pattern. Permanent.
About the Role:
- Deliver an effective service to residential students, helping to maintain a safe and supportive campus environment.
- Work closely with the Duty Team to provide pastoral, health and wellbeing support.
- Ensure safeguarding and student safety are always central to your practice, in line with relevant regulatory frameworks (including the Social Care Common Inspection Framework and National Minimum Standards).
- Maintain the safety and security of buildings, the wider estate, and everyone on campus during night hours.
- Protect students, staff and visitors, and help to prevent and deter crime.
- Support all students living on campus, with a particular focus on those aged under 18.
About You:
- You'll be calm, dependable and proactive, with a genuine commitment to supporting young people and keeping them safe.
- With a caring yet professional approach, you'll be confident managing a wide range of situations, from offering pastoral and wellbeing support to ensuring the security of our residential community overnight.
- You'll have excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Above all, you'll share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every student, helping to maintain a safe, supportive and positive residential environment.
Key Skills and Experience (Desirable):
- Experience of working in a residential, educational and/or safeguarding setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the ability to apply them in practice.
- First Aid or Mental Health First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
- Understanding of young people's pastoral needs, particularly those aged 16-18.
- Confidence using basic IT systems for record keeping and communication.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).
