JOB SUMMARY

The Trainee Pre-Press Support will receive comprehensive training across a range of pre-press functions, including CAD design, artwork preparation, and plate making.

THE ROLE

  • CAD
  • Use Artios CAD software to design packaging constructions.
  • Produce carton samples using a cutting table.
  • Prepare multi-up layouts for tooling and production.
  • Create varnish blanket files and cut varnish blankets for printing presses.
  • Liaise with customers, sales teams, and production departments to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and accurately.

Artwork

  • Review and preflight customer artwork files to ensure they are print-ready.
  • Produce and issue accurate customer proofs for approval.
  • Carry out reprographic work for lithographic printing production.

Platemaking

  • Complete step-and-repeat layouts of approved artwork.
  • Produce printing plates for production.
  • Issue printing plates and varnish blankets to the printing department.

THE PERSON

Essential Criteria

  • 5+ GCSE's A-C grade including Maths & English or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literate (Mac and PC).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to learn.
  • Persistent, determined, and able to work to deadlines.
  • Quick learner with a positive attitude.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within print production or packaging environments.
  • Experience using Esko software, including Artios CAD, Art Pro, and/or Automation Engine.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience communicating with both customers and internal teams.
