The Homelessness and Allocations Bill is set to profoundly reshape the housing and homelessness landscape in Wales. This role offers a unique opportunity to support Newport in adapting to these forthcoming changes, whilst maintaining a commitment to a data led, transformational approach to service planning. Key Responsibilities

  • This is an initial 12 month fixed term post, with the possibility of extension.
  • You will collaborate closely with senior managers within the Housing Department, the wider Council, and external partners.
  • Your primary responsibility will be to lead the authority's preparations to meet expanded statutory duties as outlined in the Homelessness and Allocations Bill.
  • The role prioritises liaising with Welsh Government at a strategic level and participating in working groups, developing relevant systems, training and data sets, transforming Newport City Council's approach to allocations, and leading communications and training initiatives.
  • Alongside these duties, you will adopt a data led approach to support the design and delivery of various service improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing client outcomes and reducing current costs, ensuring effective preparation for the implementation of the Bill.

Person Specification

  • The ideal candidate will possess a degree level qualification and significant experience working within homelessness or related fields, such as criminal justice.
  • You should demonstrate a proven track record in leading the development of new initiatives.
