About the role:
Reporting to the Entertainment Technical Manager, you will support the Entertainment Technical team on board, ensuring the technical needs of the entertainment programme are delivered to the highest industry standards. You will set up and manage sound and lighting for live bands, musicians and production shows across the ship’s venues, as well as assist backstage and with staging for the main theatre production.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver the technical requirements of the entertainment product to an exceptionally high standard.
- Set up sound and lighting systems as directed, coordinating with team members to ensure seamless productions.
- Set up and maintain stage scenery, equipment and props for all performances.
- Enhance the guest experience on board by ensuring all events meet the highest technical standards.
- Ensure events start on time and all technical requirements from musicians, performers and hosts are met.
- Follow the Entertainment Technical Manager’s instructions and work schedules, ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company regulations.
- Complete accurate maintenance and equipment records and comply with the cleaning and maintenance schedule.
- Assist with technical maintenance, repair and upkeep of all equipment onboard.
- Maintain professional behaviour and appearance, representing RWS Global and Marella Cruises at all times.
- Uphold standards set out in training.
- Participate in emergency procedures, guest mustering and drills.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of relevant industry qualifications in sound, lighting, stage management or equivalent work experience.
- Operational and set‑up knowledge of audio‑visual equipment is mandatory.
- Experience in the cruise industry or live performance venues (concert, theatre, comedy) is desirable.
- Previous sea‑going experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety procedures within the production environment.
Other Requirements:
- Must hold valid STCW training certificates prior to joining the ship.
