Folkestone Optimist Hockey Club is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Match Day Performance Manager to support our Women's 1st XI following their promotion back into the South East Premier Division. This is a collaborative coaching role, focused on delivering match day performance. Working closely with the Women's 1st XI Head Coach - who retains overall responsibility and final decision making - you will play a key role in executing game plans, managing in-game performance, and supporting the team environment on match days.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of match day performance, working in close partnership with the Head Coach
- Contribute to tactical planning and match preparation, aligned with the Head Coach's overall strategy
- Lead on in-game management, including observations, feedback, and tactical adjustments
- Deliver elements of pre-match, half-time, and post-match communication as agreed with the Head Coach
- Provide real-time insights and support to inform decision making during matches
- Manage substitutions, structure, and game flow in line with agreed plans
- Support player performance, focus, and accountability on match days
- Ensure smooth match day operations, including liaison with officials and opposition where required
- Uphold and represent the club's values in a professional and competitive environment
Commitment
- Attendance at all match days (home and away) throughout the season
- Ongoing communication with the Head Coach during the week as required
About You
- Has strong hockey knowledge and coaching/game management experience
- Works effectively within a collaborative coaching structure
- Is confident contributing ideas while respecting clear leadership and decision making lines
- Communicates clearly and positively with players and staff
- Remains calm and effective under pressure on match days
- Is reliable, organised, and committed across the full season
- Has an England Hockey coaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Has experience in performance or competitive club hockey environments
- Experience within women's hockey settings desirable
