Key Responsibilities
- Protect the public and manage prisoner safety.
- Maintain peace and order within the prison.
- Support offenders through counselling, teaching and rehabilitation activities.
- Build constructive, professional relationships with prisoners.
- Work within an integrated team and support colleagues.
- Cover a variety of shift patterns, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- At least 18 years old.
- Meet Civil Service nationality requirements (linked to UK immigration rules).
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment; meet required eyesight standards (both with and without corrective lenses) and hearing standards (without hearing aids).
- Pass a Counter‑Terrorism Check (CTC) and provide evidence of UK residency for the last 3 years.
- Non‑offensive, non‑violent and non‑discriminatory visible tattoos; facial tattoos only permitted for cultural, religious or medical reasons.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
- Commitment to quality, care and understanding.
