About the role

The Easter Vacation Scheme is run over the dates below, and the successful candidates will attend one of the four weeks. The scheme consists of a five day voluntary work placement from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We offer participants £250 for the week to cover travel and any amenity costs. If you need further help to attend, we have a diversity fund accessible to individuals with socioeconomic challenges.

  • Week 2: 6th July – 10th July
  • Week 3: 13th July – 17th July
  • Week 4: 20th July – 24th July

Students must be available for one of these weeks. You must be available for the entire five‑day week, as we cannot offer alternative dates. The placement is a unique opportunity to get insight into how a successful specialist Personal Injury law firm works and gain excellent practical experience.

The placement will be a full office‑based experience to make sure you get the most out of the opportunity. You will get stuck into genuine case tasks, while also having a more in‑depth project to work on through your placement. We will also endeavour to give each applicant the chance to attend court or a hearing with our advocacy department.

Working in pairs, you will get to sharpen your negotiation skills by participating in a Settlement Agreement activity. This will be a week‑long project that will allow you to work on your own initiative, preparing your arguments to be heard by our Graduate Scheme Programme Lead at the end of the Vacation Scheme. Finally, all attendees will have a session with our Emerging Talent Team, who will give an advice session on applications and interviews.

We set you up to succeed

You will have your very own Trainee Mentor for the week. They will look after you and support you with guidance and advice on tasks etc. They will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about what it is really like in a busy Personal Injury law firm. We are so proud of the progression at Express Solicitors. Anyone who secures a place on the Vacation Scheme and obtains positive feedback from their attendance, will automatically bypass the first stage of our recruitment process for our Graduate Scheme.

What are we looking for?

The Summer Vacation Scheme is open to students in the second year of their LLB, GDL, SQE or LPC equivalent. Applicants who demonstrate a definitive interest in Personal Injury through their application will be at an added advantage. Closing Date for applications is 17th May 2026. We rate skill and ability above all else and our recruitment policy encourages applications from all.
