We are currently recruiting for Senior Scientist I (Structural Biology). This is a permanent position based at our site in Alderley Park.
Job Type: Permanent
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the accurate and timely execution of work plans within their Protein Sciences area.
- Accountable for delivering high quality experimental outputs that support early drug discovery workflows in their area of expertise.
- Execute approved work plans for early drug discovery projects, ensuring accuracy, reproducibility, and adherence to project timelines.
- Provide recommendations to improve work plans for review and approval by Grade 5 or above.
- Support multiple projects across different modalities and therapeutic areas.
- Perform initial data analysis and prepare results for internal review prior to release to internal or external customers.
- Deliver accurate, efficient, and timely data recording and reporting for all procedures.
- Ensure routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments for accurate and reliable performance.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Technical knowledge in Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or Biophysics, with a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality results within agreed timelines and quality criteria.
- Strong understanding of the scientific and technical principles underlying experimental approaches in Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology and Biophysics.
- Demonstrated ability to execute work plans with precision and attention to detail.
- Growing independence in day to day technical decision making, with appropriate guidance from senior colleagues.
- Commitment to following all training and Quality Management documents for the correct use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Education & Qualifications:
- A Degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline ideally with relevant experience in industry.

Benefits:
- Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution, and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
