We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Belmarsh. HMP Belmarsh is a male prison Category A with a capacity of 700 adults.

- Salary: up to £55,086 per annum depending on experience.
- Hours: shifts 24 hours, between 7:30 am - 8 pm and 7:30 pm - 8 am; 3 weeks of days and 1 week of nights/weekends, 37.5 hours total.

Main Duties
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
- Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and 1:1 settings, with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
- Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate treatment options to service users
- Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers; provide advice and information on a 1:1 basis
- Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person-centred approach
- Attend emergency calls
- Assess new arrivals and refer them to the appropriate department
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered nurse with current NMC registration
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
- Experience of working with opiate dependent patients
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
- A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential)
Additional Requirements
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom and subject to additional vetting and security checks
- Submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (CRB) to check for any previous convictions
- Applicants must have current UK professional registration
