Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading civil engineering firm on the appointment of a Health & Safety Advisor (Belfast). As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will support the delivery of health and safety across multiple project sites, ensuring compliance with legislation, company standards, and client requirements. You will work closely with site teams to promote a positive safety culture and assist in the continuous improvement of health, safety, and wellbeing performance.
In your new role:
- Support the implementation and ongoing development of the company's Health & Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and relevant standards
- Assist in the preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), COSHH assessments and safe systems of work
- Carry out regular site inspections and audits, reporting findings and following up on corrective actions
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote awareness and safe working practices
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions, helping to identify root causes and preventive measures
- Maintain accurate records of accidents, incidents, inspections, and compliance documentation
- Support site and project managers in coordinating contractors and ensuring safe systems of work are followed
- Monitor compliance with health and safety policies and procedures across sites
- Contribute to the preparation of reports and safety performance data for internal review
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to promote a proactive safety culture
What you will need to succeed:
- 2+ years' experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within civil engineering, construction, or a related industry
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
- Experience supporting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office
- Full clean driving licence
- Willingness to travel to multiple project sites
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
- Experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Environmental or Quality knowledge/qualifications
- Working towards further professional development (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH membership)
