iPeople SC Solutions is recruiting for an Education Health Care Plan Coordinator for our client based in Lambeth and surrounding areas. The successful post holder will be responsible for a defined caseload and act as the named officer in line with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, statutory responsibilities and the authority's local policies and strategies.

The successful post holder will ensure all communications and contacts with young people, parents, schools, settings and other agencies about SEN casework and general SEN issues are proactive, supportive, timely and constructive so that confidence in the service is maintained and improved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be the primary point of contact for the parents/carers of children and for young people, across the 0 - 25 age range who are undergoing an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment or who have an Education, Health and Care plan.
  • Chair and attend annual reviews where there is a high risk of placement breakdown or a complex case within the targeted age groups.
  • Ensure all written correspondence and documents are accurate and well structured, reflecting local and national requirements, including SEN legislation, and is sensitive to the perspective of the recipient.
  • Ensure electronic case files are well maintained to agreed quality standards and confidentiality in line with Data Protection Act.
  • Accurately record, input and maintain records on a database as required.
  • Attend a range of meetings with young people, parents, school staff and other officers and professionals as required, including annual reviews in line with agreed priorities.
  • Support the SEN Team Manager and Case Officers in the preparation of information for management reports, tribunal case statements, and general correspondence as requested.
  • Prioritise and manage workloads to ensure all transfer reviews are managed within agreed timescales.
  • Understand the SEND Code of Practice and work within the legislative framework.
  • Responsible for the management of a designated SEN caseload, ensuring service standards, performance outcomes and statutory requirements are met.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of this post.

Working hours: 35 per week, Monday - Friday

Requirements:
  • Detailed Knowledge of legislation related to Special Educational Needs and other relevant legislation relating to children and young people with SEN.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of different agencies in this area of work in providing services related to the statutory assessment procedure and meeting the educational need of SEN pupils and young people.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to support to pupils with SEN, which will enable the post holder to resolve day to day operational issues.
  • Working knowledge of standard IT packages.
  • Knowledge of issues relating to funding arrangements for pupils with SEN placed in a variety of settings.
  • Experience in this area of work gained by either education (degree or equivalent) or through a minimum of 3 years experience.
  • Experience of working and liaising with parents, carers and other agencies in a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Experience of managing conflicting demands and priorities, working to tight timescales.
  • Experience of producing reports for a variety of complex audiences.
  • Experience of managing complaints and resolving disagreements.
