Join RSM UK as a Director within our Global VAT Compliance & Reporting (GVCR) team and take ownership of a strategically important function delivering complex VAT compliance, e-invoicing, and reporting solutions across the UK, EU, and global markets.

This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for driving operational excellence, scaling delivery capability, enhancing client experience, and influencing the future direction of our managed compliance services. You will work at the centre of a fast-evolving international tax and regulatory landscape, partnering with senior internal and external stakeholders across tax, technology, operations, and client leadership teams.

As Director, you will lead the Project Management function responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of global client engagements. From commercial handover and onboarding through to ongoing compliance delivery and transformation initiatives. You will own the strategic oversight of client delivery operations, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.

You will act as the senior point of accountability for delivery governance, client satisfaction, operational performance, and team leadership. This role requires a commercially minded leader with strong programme management capability, the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration at scale, and the confidence to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead our project management function as a director, responsible for a team of dedicated project managers and setting the strategic direction, operating model, and delivery standards for global compliance engagements.
  • Take full ownership of the successful delivery of complex, multi-jurisdictional VAT compliance and e-invoicing projects across a diverse international client portfolio.
  • Track and report client deadlines, ensuring on-time delivery and a premium service is continually delivered.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve processes, scalability, automation, governance, and client experience.
  • Be the primary point of contact for new client engagements and escalation point for any team issues.
  • Oversee onboarding and implementation of new clients, ensuring effective mobilisation, risk management, resource planning, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Coordinate internal teams to ensure all aspects of new client engagements are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for delivery, operational, and client-related matters, proactively managing risk and resolving issues to maintain service excellence.
  • Involved in the financial management of the department, specifically overseeing cost management processes and coordination of billing procedures and monthly reporting.
  • Own commercial performance across client accounts, including budgeting, profitability, utilisation, forecasting, and recovery management.
  • Act as a conduit between our department and other business units within RSM, enhancing collaboration and joint opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring consistently high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop the team skillset. Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing project management teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and career development.
  • Support business growth initiatives by contributing to proposals, client pitches, service development, and strategic transformation projects.
  • Drive consistency and governance across project delivery methodologies, reporting frameworks, KPIs, and service quality standards.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement, including the adoption of technology-enabled solutions, automation, and evolving e-invoicing and digital reporting requirements.
