Vantage is looking for a Director, Electrical Engineering, EMEA, to lead design and engineering within the construction process and engage in all technical aspects of development. The role requires leading a team of highly skilled electrical engineers and technical leads focused on data center critical infrastructure systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- High‑level schematic system design, specification development, submittal review, design document review, oversight of installation, participation in commissioning and transition to operations.
- Acting as a single point of contact for the organization and ownership of design output.
- Career development, recruitment and onboarding of new team members, and maintaining electrical engineering standards across the EMEA region.
- Serving as the primary liaison with other departments (Sales, Customer Solutions, Design Management, Development, Finance, Legal, HR, Innovation CSA, Delivery, Automation & Controls, Security, IT, and Operations) to ensure consistent product delivery.
- Regular collaboration and coordination with managers and directors of other development regions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and set strategic direction for the Electrical Engineering team.
- Drive innovation and best practices in electrical engineering design and construction.
- Develop and implement long‑term electrical engineering plans supporting Vantage’s expansion.
- Build and lead a high‑performing engineering team, mentoring and fostering professional growth.
- Oversee planning, design, and execution of multiple engineering projects, ensuring completion within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Implement effective project management practices, monitor progress, identify risks, and execute mitigation strategies.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships and ensuring alignment on project objectives.
- Champion continuous improvement, adopting new technologies and methodologies.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to minimize impact on project outcomes.
- Travel across the EMEA region to oversee project sites and develop emergency response protocols.
- Manage electrical engineering activities from site adaptation through commissioning across Vantage’s portfolio.
- Provide QA/QC of work products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable requirements (OPR, specifications, code, lease, etc.).
- Own resource allocation and project workflow for direct reports and third‑party contingent workforce.
- Create and manage statements of work for engineering design on VDC projects and customer builds.
- Support corporate development by reviewing technical due diligence for existing or under‑development data center assets.
- Support sales in customer engagement during build‑out and fulfillment of lease requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships, qualification and relationship building.
- Document and share lessons learned at project level to drive continuous improvement at program level.
- Coordinate with site operations to confirm that site adaptation meets program and operational standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Accredited engineering credentials preferred (Chartered / Professional Engineer).
- 10+ years of experience in data center electrical engineering management; 15 years preferred.
- Experience in EMEA construction markets required; experience in NA construction markets preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Revit, BIM, and Navisworks environments.
- Working knowledge of critical cooling and power infrastructure within a data center project.
- Understanding of building and fire code ordinances.
- Excellent communication skills for executive management, operations, sales engineering, and finance.
- National and international travel required (25%–50%).
