EY Capital & Debt Advisory is seeking an Associate Director to join its market‑leading corporate debt advisory team to support deal execution and origination. The team is award‑winning, having recently been named Global Capital Debt Advisor of the year for 2026 and has a strong reputation for closing high‑profile transactions. We advise sovereign, corporate, private equity, not‑for‑profit, and entrepreneurial clients on debt‑related matters, including refinancings, acquisition‑related financings, leveraged transactions, finance raisings and amendments, and currently have a healthy book of live deals and near‑term opportunities.
This role specifically focuses on the corporate side of our business, working primarily with non‑private‑equity‑backed businesses on all aspects of their debt financing requirements. You will play a key role in supporting our growth plans, with strong career progression opportunities within EY’s Strategy and Transactions business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and working as part of a team on projects from start to finish, covering all transaction stages from initial proposal through to completion.
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients and all stakeholders during a transaction process on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Overseeing the work of project teams and coordinating various work streams, liaising with and managing stakeholders including key client contacts, lenders and other advisors.
- Leading and managing the delivery of high‑quality transaction documentation, including the preparation of information packs, management presentations, term sheets, structuring and financial analysis and other project deliverables.
- Performing LBO modelling, analysing business forecasts, undertaking scenario analysis, building financing overlays and covenant calculations.
- Supporting business development initiatives, including the production of high‑quality collateral, developing pitch documents and attending meetings with clients and prospects.
- Coaching and contributing to the development of more junior team members.
- Further developing your own business network.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience in debt advisory, including a lead role in day‑to‑day project management, and preparation of information packs, management presentations, financial analyses, term sheets and client communications.
- Strong experience with financial modelling related to debt transactions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills; building close working relationships with clients, lenders and advisors.
- Assisting senior team members with targeting, marketing, proposal materials and client coverage.
- Proactively building and developing a network of internal and external relationships amongst intermediaries, private equity houses, corporate targets and clients.
- Experience and understanding of different debt markets, market conventions and parameters, and ability to articulate and tailor solutions to clients.
- Demonstrated confidence in client situations, gaining acceptance and providing value through advice and insight.
- Sound commercial judgment and ability to generate creative solutions to problems and “think on your feet.”
- Strong financial acumen and solid understanding of financial statements.
- Agility to convert analysis into various outputs, including support for board‑level conversations, presented clearly and concisely.
- Ability to manage and develop more junior team members.
- Strong time‑management skills, keeping the team informed of progress and highlighting issues as appropriate.
- Extensive experience working in debt advisory, banking or a related field in a deal‑related environment.
- Strong organisational and project‑management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven team player and ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, organisations and clients.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines.
