Responsibilities:
- Facilitate access to collections for researchers, students and external users through reading room services, enquiry handling and research support.
- Catalogue archival material to professional standards and develop online guides and collection development policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with academic and external partners to improve the visibility and impact of the collections.
- Manage the digitalisation of archival collections and contribute metadata for digital access systems.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate environmental and storage conditions in accordance with professional standards.
Person Specification:
The applicant will be educated to degree level or have equivalent workplace experience. They will also have experience of cataloguing and managing archival materials, including mixed format collections to professional standards. They will possess excellent communication and influencing skills, and this extends the ability to engage proactively with academic staff and researchers. The postholder will place value on customer service and be highly organised with excellent attention to detail. They will be committed to personal and team development.
