- Job Summary
- To take the lead role in the overall project management of the Sandwell Plan process.
Undertaking detailed project management work with full operational responsibility and accountability for plan delivery.
- To ensure progress and milestones for the overall project (and individual work areas that feed into the project) are regularly reviewed, updated and achieved - working pro‑actively to swiftly resolve issues and challenges that may affect the delivery of the overall project and individual work areas.
- To maintain an overview of project risks to ensure these are proactively managed and resolved as necessary.
- To oversee budgets and resources available to the project, provide regular reports on such and ensure effective project management and delivery.
- The post holder will be expected to develop working partnerships both within and outside the Council with key stakeholders and also engage effectively with senior Local Authority colleagues and elected members locally, and where required sub‑regionally and regionally.
Essential requirements for the role
- Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
- Proven experience of managing the delivery of projects (ideally in a planning‑based field) including experience of managing budgets.
- Experience of working with elected members.
- Knowledge of the planning system as it relates to the adoption of planning policy.
