The focus of this assistant Mill Operator role is to operate the Core Winder & Packaging line, ensuring efficient operation with minimum wastage in accordance with customer specifications and the converting line output. The role involves maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, whilst adhering to all Health and Safety procedures, policies, and standards.

Assistant Mill Operator duties include:

  • Operating, assisting, monitoring or directing the Packaging Line to resolve any issues.
  • Fully understanding the entire Packaging process including loading and unloading of film reels.
  • Assisting the converting line process to achieve optimal results.
  • Operating, assisting, monitoring or directing the Core Making Line to resolve any issues.
  • Performing Safety Checks and correctly recording the results.
  • Completing necessary Safety and Housekeeping duties.
  • Safely wrapping, unwrapping, weighing, stacking, moving, loading and unloading wagons.
  • Providing suitable and sufficient cover for the Warehouse Operator in their absence.
  • Having a good understanding of the Warehouse procedures.

This Assistant Mill Operator role would suit candidates with experience as a Production Operative, Manufacturing Operative, Machine Operator, Factory Operative, Forklift Driver, or similar role.

Job Requirements:

  • Forklift truck experience.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Able to commute within 1 hour.
  • Experience in a factory or manufacturing environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Maths, English, and IT.
  • Basic IT skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
