About the Client: Amir, 42, is an active, sociable, and engaging young man who lives in his own bungalow with PA support. He leads a busy and fulfilling lifestyle and enjoys a wide range of activities including drama and singing groups, going to the gym, swimming, companion cycling, go-karting, attending concerts and theatre shows, and following his favourite team, Southampton Football Club. Amir has a warm and friendly personality and enjoys chatting and spending time with others. He communicates verbally, although he may occasionally need listeners to ask him to repeat himself for clarity. Amir has a moderate learning disability and spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which can result in uncoordinated and sometimes jerky movements. He is able to walk using a walking aid, although his balance is reduced and he can become fatigued over longer distances. For longer journeys, such as trips into London for events, he uses a power chair or manual wheelchair depending on the venue. Amir also has dysphasia and dysarthria. He eats a normal diet with minimal adaptations. Amir can sometimes feel overwhelmed or anxious in certain situations and may need support to process new information or with problem-solving. He is, however, very independent and requires minimal support with personal care.

The Role at a Glance: This role involves supporting Amir with day-to-day tasks including cooking, cleaning, following his home exercise programme, and accompanying him to events and activities. Amir enjoys keeping busy and has a full weekly schedule, so the role is varied, active, and highly engaging. Amir is capable and independent in many areas, so the focus of this role is on enabling his independence and providing support only where needed. He enjoys food and likes planning and shopping for meals for the week, enjoying sharing mealtimes with his Support Worker. The shift starts at 9:00pm on Monday, through to 9:00am on Thursday. This includes 3 sleeping nights; Amir requires very infrequent support during the night.

This Job Would Suit: This role would suit an enthusiastic and proactive Support Worker/PA with experience supporting young people/adults with physical and learning disabilities. You will be a confident swimmer and enjoy taking part in activities alongside Amir. A manual driving licence is essential, and you must be a confident driver. Amir values consistency and strong working relationships; two of his most recent Snap Care Support Workers were with him for over 10 years! This role would suit someone cheerful, outgoing, and a good listener who enjoys building positive relationships. Amir is looking for, in his words "Someone who listens to me, a nice support worker to help me do what I need to do, with a good working relationship and just to have a good time!" Due to Amir's communication difficulties, it is essential the support worker has clear spoken English.

Why You'll Love This Role: This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate seeking a rewarding, active, and enjoyable role. You'll have the opportunity to travel within the UK with Amir and share in the many activities he enjoys. Full training will be provided, and the role is particularly well suited to someone looking to build a meaningful, long-term working relationship.

Recruitment Process: This vacancy is being managed through Snap Care's Shortlist Service. We will review all applications and confirm that the essential criteria are met before passing suitable CVs and contact details to our client/case manager, who will continue the recruitment process directly. By applying, you consent to your details being shared with our client. Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies.
