Wetherby Preparatory School is an independent boys' preparatory school (ages 7 – 13) of 350 boys set in the dynamic area of Marylebone in London. Wetherby prepares its pupils for many of the top day and boarding senior schools in the country and therefore works at a level significantly above National Curriculum expectations. Wetherby Prep are now looking for a year four class teacher to join them from September 2026. The KS2 class teacher is responsible for the education and welfare of a class, in accordance with school policy, ensuring the safety and welfare of pupils and achieving the highest standards of learning and achievement for all. Additionally, they are expected to promote and support the ethos, aims and vision of the school and maintain its philosophy of education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to raising standards of attainment by preparing and teaching stimulating and energetic lessons of a high standard and according to pupils' needs.
- Identify clear learning objectives and outcomes, building on prior attainment, with appropriate challenge.
- Take responsibility for, and promote, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all pupils in your care.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- In line with school policy, mark, monitor and assess pupils' work and set targets for progress.
- Assess and record pupils' progress, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the pupil is achieving.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
- Teaching qualification together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Knowledge of National Curriculum in Key Stage 2.
- Able to use an appropriate range of teaching and learning strategies.
- An understanding of how assessment for learning can improve pupil performance.
- A confident and competent user of ICT.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Creativity in problem solving with a willingness to take on new approaches.
- A positive attitude towards professional development and their own learning.
- Experience of working with children who have Special Educational Needs is desirable.
