Join Ivetsey Bank Hospital, a Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service in Staffordshire, providing specialist inpatient care for young people with complex mental health needs. As part of the ACG Mental Health Network and the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative, we deliver compassionate, recovery-focused care in partnership with young people, families, and professionals.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Head of Therapies and Clinical Psychologist to provide strategic leadership across Therapy Services while maintaining a substantive clinical role within our specialist Eating Disorders Service. This unique split role includes:

  • 2 days per week leading Therapy Services, driving clinical excellence, governance, and service development across allied health professionals and therapy teams
  • 3 days per week delivering specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention to young people with eating disorders and complex mental health needs

You will play a key role in shaping a clinically led, evidence-based, and person-centred service, supporting multidisciplinary teams across our three units: Eating Disorders, PICU, and General Adolescent Services. Reporting to the Hospital Director, you’ll contribute to strategic planning, quality assurance, and workforce development while helping young people achieve meaningful recovery.

Job responsibilities

What you'll be working:

Our standard working hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing:

Strategic & Operational Leadership (Head of Therapies - 2 days)
  • Provide strategic and professional leadership for all Therapy Services within the Ivetsey Bank Hospital.
  • Hold responsibility for the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of therapy provision aligned to CAMHS and eating disorder service models and standards.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of therapy pathways, ensuring alignment with evidence-based approaches for children and young people.
  • Oversee operational performance, including activity targets, quality indicators, and service outcomes.
  • Ensure services operate within agreed budgets and contribute to financial planning and efficiency initiatives as required.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that support high-quality care.
  • Lead service improvement, redesign, and innovation to enhance patient outcomes and experience.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and education teams to ensure integrated care delivery.
  • Manage therapy workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provide professional leadership, supervision structures, and career development frameworks for therapy staff.
  • Lead on clinical governance within therapies, including audits, outcome monitoring, and incident review.
  • Act as the professional lead for therapy-related investigations, including capability and conduct issues as appropriate.
Clinical Responsibilities (Clinical Psychologist - 3 days)
  • Hold a specialist clinical caseload within the Eating Disorders CAMHS unit.
  • Provide comprehensive psychological assessments, formulations, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Work as a core member of the multidisciplinary team contributing to treatment planning and risk management.
  • Deliver individual, family, and group interventions for young people with eating disorders and comorbid presentations.
  • Contribute to safeguarding assessments and risk management planning for complex cases.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.
  • Participate in clinical outcome measurement and service evaluation.
Professional Leadership & Governance
  • Ensure all therapy staff work within HCPC, BPS, and relevant professional body standards.
  • Maintain oversight of professional standards, competence, and continuing professional development.
  • Lead delivery of supervision structures across therapy disciplines.
  • Support revalidation and professional registration processes.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and integration of research into clinical delivery.
Service Development & Quality Improvement
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the service.
  • Use data, audit, and feedback to drive service enhancements.
  • Contribute to business planning, including service growth and development opportunities.
  • Ensure therapy services are responsive to national CAMHS and eating disorder priorities.
