HGV Class 1 Drivers
Location: Corby
Pay: £18.00 Days / £21 Sat / £22 Sun
The Role
- Average shift length: 10-12 hours
- 7-day operation - however the client can accommodate drivers looking for Monday to Friday!
- AM shifts: typically start between 05:00-07:00
- Delivery area spans: North: Manchester/Wakefield/Scunthorpe/Preston - Usually night drivers; West: South Wales; South: London (Outer)
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering a mixture of products such as crisps, spices, glass jars and cleaning products.
- It is the driver's responsibility to ensure the load is strapped securely, depending on the product.
- Occasionally certain sites will require you to use a pump truck to unload.
- Most sites, no hand balling involved.
- Safely operate and drive HGV 1 (C E) vehicles to transport goods to designated locations.
- Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure road worthiness.
- Adhere to all relevant traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and logistics team members.
- Shifts are booked daily with shift confirmation times texted to you the day before.
- No driving assessment on site, but paperwork to be completed before first shift.
Requirements
- Valid HGV 1 C E licence.
- Up-to-date Tacho Digi Card and an up-to-date DCPC Card.
- Min 10 months HGV Class 1 C E experience.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- We will accept up to 6 points on your licence, but no DD, TT, DR, CD, IN endorsements.
