We are recruiting a reliable and experienced cook to join our busy kitchen and team. Your role includes preparing high‑quality nutritional meals and working within budgets set by the home manager. You will serve traditional home‑cooked dishes such as Sunday roasts, puddings, and specialty cakes for birthdays, ensuring residents receive comforting, well‑prepared meals. Passion for cooking, a dedication to older adults, and an ability to be courteous and caring will make you an ideal fit. A DBS/PVG check will be required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals and beverages as required.
- Work in accordance with the Home’s policies.
- Carry out kitchen duties, maintaining high hygiene standards at all times.
- Use resources efficiently and order food.
- Report any issues or concerns raised by service users to the Care Centre Manager.
- Attend all mandatory and in‑house training.
- Understand and comply with COSHH.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene records as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualification NVQ Level 2 or Level 706/2 in Catering, Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene certificate.
- Knowledge of textured and modified diets.
- Experience in a care, hospital or commercial kitchen setting is advantageous but not essential.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate to residents in a kind and courteous manner.
