Due to retirement and recruitment in the practice, IG Medical are looking to recruit a part-time receptionist based at both our Ilkley and Grassington Surgeries. Please note this advert may close early depending upon the level of interest.

Main duties of the job

  • As part of our friendly Reception team you will be responsible for providing an efficient reception service to our patients.
  • We are looking for individuals who are committed to a patient centred, open and fair approach to the quality assurance of healthcare.
  • You must be able to use your own judgement, have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team.

IG Medical is situated in West Yorkshire, we have 2 sites Ilkley Moor Medical Practice set in the picturesque town of Ilkley and Grassington Medical Centre in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We are a training practice and are a caring, forward thinking, committed team, whose aim is to improve the health of our community by delivering high quality patient care, whilst maintaining a fulfilling working environment for all. Our clinical team includes 5 GP Partners, salaried GP's, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and our nursing team consists of Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. All supported by our hardworking Managers, reception and administrative teams.

Employees of IG Medical are enrolled in Sovereign Healthcare Asset Level 2, which includes store discounts, and NHS Pension.

Job responsibilities

  • Receiving and directing of patients on arrival.
  • When necessary open and close and secure premises.
  • Handle general enquiries and make new and follow-up appointments.
  • Responsibility for helping people with non-medical problems.
  • Ensure that appropriate attention, care and time given to patients, particularly the elderly, and issue relevant details of services available to them.
  • Answer telephone and deal with or redirect enquiries to appropriate staff.
  • File and retrieve medical records.
  • Registration of new patients and temporary residents.
  • Take requests for prescriptions, change of address etc.
  • Pass on information re unsolved or urgent problems.
  • Photocopying.
  • Use computer as per practice policy.
  • Liaise and provide clerical assistance when necessary for attached staff.
  • Read emails, notifications and tasks daily.
  • Assist with any other duties of a Clerical or Administrative nature that may be required of you.

Previous experience of working in an office/healthcare environment would be desirable however full training will be given.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.

Experience

  • Experience of working with the general public.
  • Experience of customer service and delivery.
  • Experience of working in a health care setting.
  • NHS / Primary Care General Practice experience.

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility to work outside of core office hours.
  • Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Full UK driving licence.
