My client is a leading civil engineering contractor who specialise in marine infrastructure works. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a H&S Advisor to join them on a permanent basis. The Health & Safety Advisor provides H&S support across the company, ensuring regulatory compliance and improving performance in operational and support functions through effective Health and Safety Management. This role is site-based and will cover several projects dotted across the South East.
Responsibilities
- Work within the Integrated Management System, following company procedures, policies and instructions while keeping the QHSE Manager informed of progress.
- Support the maintenance and development of the company's Integrated Management System and wider Health and Safety performance.
- Monitor changes in legislation, maintain working knowledge of relevant requirements, and help ensure compliance across the company.
- Carry out site inspections and audits, record non-conformances, and support their close-out with relevant managers.
- Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis to support continual improvement.
- Support the introduction of improved technology, techniques and procedures, and monitor resulting actions through to completion.
Required qualifications, skills & experience
- Up-to-date knowledge of QHSE legislation, best practice, and core health, safety and quality principles.
- Experience with Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001).
- Strong report writing skills.
- Experience of site inspections and audits.
- Working knowledge of construction sites and work on or near inland and tidal water.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
- Site Environmental awareness Training Scheme (SEATS).
