What you will be doing
This essential role sits within the Operational Support Team who are responsible for supporting Dorset Highways within Dorset Council. Your main purpose will be to prioritise, schedule and permit works to a number of gangs across Dorset taking a holistic approach and in accordance with the Dorset Council Permit Scheme for Roads & Street works and other highway legislation. You will efficiently package jobs directly to gangs whilst monitoring works status and dashboards and liaising with Operatives, Site agents, Community Highways Officers, Engineers and Traffic Team. Collaboration is key to the successful delivery of Dorset Highways works and you will take responsibility for planning works in your own area by helping support their successful delivery.
About you
We are looking for a new team member with an attention to detail who is driven to improve our service and committed to the highest standards. A robust team player, with a flexible approach, keen to support colleagues working in our friendly and busy team. Exceptional communication skills are required for this role and you'll share our values building good working relationships with colleagues across Dorset Highways and the Council. Training will be provided, but we would like someone with skills which are transferable to this role, with a willingness to learn quickly with the support of your team colleagues. The successful candidate will require a driving licence and be able to travel to Charminster depot, where the Operational Support Team is based as well as the depot covering their area of works in Dorset.
