About the Role

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world's leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials at the atomic and molecular level. Our Materials Analysis business plays a vital role in advancing technologies across electronics, clean energy, healthcare, and beyond. We're now looking for a warm, organised and proactive Front Desk Receptionist to be the face of our site – someone who thrives on creating a fantastic first impression and enjoys bringing structure and energy to a busy workplace. This is far more than a traditional reception role. You will be at the heart of the office – welcoming visitors, supporting colleagues, and helping to deliver a seamless, professional experience for everyone who walks through our doors. From coordinating travel to supporting site-wide events, you'll play a key part in keeping everything running smoothly.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering a first‑class welcome to all visitors, clients and partners
  • Coordinating travel arrangements, including taxis and hotel bookings
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of internal events such as summer parties, Christmas celebrations and conferences
  • Providing general administrative and office support
  • Maintaining a professional, organised and inviting reception area

You’ll also provide occasional afternoon cover for the reception desk during annual leave periods, so flexibility is key.

About You

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and takes pride in creating a positive, professional environment.

  • A naturally friendly, approachable and professional manner
  • Strong communication skills with confidence interacting with a range of people
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • The ability to prioritise and stay calm in a fast‑paced environment
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to get involved and support the wider team

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a global technology business at the forefront of scientific innovation
  • Work in a collaborative and supportive environment
  • Enjoy a varied, people‑focused role where no two days are the same
  • Opportunity to get involved in events and wider team initiatives
