About the role

As General Manager, you will lead our Cornwall café and help define what Origin retail looks and feels like in Cornwall. You will lead a high-performing team, deliver a consistently excellent customer experience, and run a commercially successful café that reflects our brand and values. This is a hands-on leadership role with real on-the-floor presence and clear ownership of performance, people, and standards.

What you'll do

  • Lead day-to-day operations, service quality, and front-of-house standards
  • Build, coach, and develop a skilled and engaged team, including SCA training progression
  • Champion Origin's customer journey, coffee knowledge, and community presence
  • Maintain strong health, safety, and food compliance standards
  • Actively identify opportunities to grow sales and community engagement
  • Deliver agreed revenue and EBITDA targets
  • Manage the upkeep and day-to-day use of the events space behind The Roastery Café, working alongside the Community and Partnerships Co-ordinator.
  • Oversee the utilisation of the office space above the Café, including managing desk bookings and supporting businesses using the space.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance across both the office and events spaces, particularly when used by external stakeholders.
  • Align events diaries with the Community and Partnerships Co-ordinator to forecast and plan regular events within the space and be adequately prepared for surge in Café activity.

  • An experienced hospitality leader with a background in speciality coffee or premium hospitality
  • Commercially confident, operationally strong, and calm under pressure

Skills and Experience

  • Experience managing a specialty coffee site or hospitality venue
  • Financial fluency across P&L, COGS, labour and forecasting
  • Skilled in people management, coaching and team development
  • Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills
  • Familiar with digital tools and Office 365
  • Experience in B Corp businesses or purpose-led environments is a plus
