Jewish Care is launching a brand-new Hearing Aid Clinic in Golders Green, designed to support people in the wider community and across our local services. This volunteer role is central to the success of the initiative, helping individuals get the most from their hearing aids through practical advice, routine maintenance, and guidance on effective use. All duties will be supported by full training.
Tasks include:
- Welcoming and supporting visitors attending the clinic
- Assisting with basic hearing aid maintenance (e.g., cleaning, changing batteries, replacing tubing or domes)
- Supporting individuals to understand how to use and care for their hearing aids effectively
- Demonstrating simple maintenance techniques under guidance
- Providing reassurance and practical advice
- Helping to identify when a hearing aid may need further professional attention
- Assisting with setting up and packing down the clinic space
- Supporting with basic record keeping or appointment coordination (where required)
- Working alongside staff and other volunteers to ensure a positive and supportive environment

Untreated hearing loss is linked to increased risks of dementia, social isolation, and a decline in overall health and well-being. - Patient, approachable and empathetic
