St. Joseph's College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Music to join our team. The successful candidate will teach Key Stage 3, 4, and 5 Music, ensuring high standards of learning, achievement, and development for all students. You will play an integral part in supporting the College's Lasallian Catholic ethos and will be responsible for delivering exceptional Music provision across the College.

Key responsibilities

  • Shaping the long-term direction of music across the College and encouraging a vibrant creative culture.
  • Developing the Music curriculum, ensuring it is broad, engaging and relevant.
  • Promoting excellent teaching and learning across the department.
  • Expanding opportunities for pupils to take part in ensembles, showcases, productions, competitions, and community performances.
  • Building confidence and enthusiasm in young musicians through an inclusive and inspiring departmental ethos.
  • Ensuring facilities, instruments, and departmental funding are used strategically to enhance student participation and progress.
  • Using your expertise to maintain consistently high outcomes and excellent classroom practice.
  • Introducing fresh ideas and initiatives that strengthen the school's musical provision.
  • Working with the Director of Spirituality to support music for Masses, liturgies and seasonal celebrations.
