Permanent, full time (37.5 hpw), Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm Hull & East Yorkshire.

We have a brilliant opportunity to join our fantastic, supported accommodation services in East Yorkshire. We are the multi-skilled hands-on practical support that helps our colleagues deliver services to our customers. We work with customers who have varying support needs, across a mix of properties and grounds. As our handy person, you'll spend much of your time working across our amazing services in East Yorkshire.

What you'll do:

  • Perform minor or emergency repairs, decorating and cleaning in properties and communal areas.
  • Handle tasks like hanging curtain poles, moving furniture, touching up paint, changing washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns and clearing grounds.
  • Carry out regular fire safety checks.
  • Work with colleagues, contractors and customers.
  • Liaise with Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and follow up on repairs outside your remit.

You have:

  • A team player with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm.
  • General maintenance know-how, a bit of carpentry, basic plumbing and confidence with a paintbrush or broom.
  • Comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life.
  • Ability to use technology for accessing emails, logging and recording of jobs and Health & Safety tasks.
  • To get from A to B, you'll need a vehicle; the great news is that we'll provide a Home Group van!

We mainly work Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm, but we're flexible as long as we meet our customer's needs. You'll be based at Hull and travel around the properties in our East Yorkshire region, mostly in Hull, Scunthorpe, Driffield, Scarborough and Doncaster. Occasionally you'll head outside the patch for all hands-on deck situations. You'll need a Standard DBS check, we pay for it.
