The Pickering Group is a family‑owned, UK‑based electronics manufacturer established in 1968. The company specializes in high‑quality switching, simulation, and relay products for industries such as aerospace, automotive and defence.

The Procurement Department is responsible for sourcing goods and services that support the company’s daily operations. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Assistant ensures the efficient and timely acquisition of both direct and indirect purchases and maintains accurate procurement records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue and manage RFQs for electronic components, review and analyse quotations from suppliers.
  • Process purchase requests via X3, MRP suggestions, inter‑company orders and non‑stock part requests; enter accurate data into the X3 ERP system.
  • Run MRP functions on X3 and address procurement needs as required.
  • Manage the inbox, ensuring enquiries are addressed promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers; resolve delivery, pricing or order discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (production, R&D, engineering) to provide status updates and resolve delays.
  • Assist in identifying process improvements and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Support the Procurement Manager with initiatives to streamline purchasing processes.
  • Provide general support and ad‑hoc tasks to ensure smooth operation of the department.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date records in the ERP system, including new parts, supplier information and manufacturing part numbers.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: GCSE Maths & English (A‑C).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar procurement role; full in‑house training provided.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems (Sage X3 preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • CIPS Level 3 or higher (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply).
