Conekt Legal is currently partnering with our client, a leading global law firm to recruit a senior associate or associate into their highly regarded UK Planning and Public Law practice. This role will be based in either their Glasgow or Edinburgh office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading practice working at the forefront of complex, high-profile development and infrastructure projects, alongside a recognised leader in the planning space. The work is varied, high quality and often at the more complex end of the market. The role would suit an experienced planning solicitor with 4+ years PQE.

The Role

You will work closely with the Head of the UK Planning and Public Law team, advising on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious planning matters. You will work on a broad range of high profile and interesting planning matters and advisory work to include advising on large scale regeneration, housing and mixed-use development schemes, planning strategy and delivery for major infrastructure and energy-related projects, environmental and impact assessment work, highways and compulsory purchase matters, advising on local plans, viability and community infrastructure levy and supporting on planning appeals, inquiries and judicial review challenges. You will be involved throughout the lifecycle of projects, working closely with developers, investors, lenders and public sector bodies.

The team is known for its commercial, solution-focused approach and ability to navigate complex planning issues on high-value, strategically important projects. You will be working alongside a highly ranked partner with an outstanding reputation in the market for:

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor (Scotland OR England & Wales qualified)
  • 4+ PQE with experience in planning law
  • Experience across development, infrastructure or environmental planning matters
  • Exposure to contentious work (appeals, inquiries or judicial review) is advantageous but not essential
