NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role: As part of a new national network of centres, NHS GGC is due to open its first GP WiC in June 2026. The WiC will fall under the remit of the GP Out of Hours Service (OOH). The centre will complement local daytime General Practice and wider primary and community care services, and will have clear clinical pathways in place for opening.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: This is a fixed term or secondment post for 12 months. Part time post of 20 hours per week with a requirement to work 2 weekends in 4. This is a Job Share post that covers 7 days a week. The hours are varied between 11.30am and 20:30pm Monday - Sunday. The WiC will provide urgent clinical services to GGC population, Monday to Sunday and on Public Holidays 12 8pm. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part time working hours will be reduced on a pro rating basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.

Key responsibilities: A 12 month secondment/fixed term opportunity has become available for the role in the Receptionist/Clerical Officer in GP Out of Hours (OOH) service. This post forms part of the admin support team and provides reception/clerical tasks at the WiC. This will include reception duties, data input, record management and general typing.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job: Secretarial qualification or equivalent experience. Demonstrable experience in an administrative / reception / front of house role. Working knowledge of: Patient flow and waiting room management; Role of administration in supporting clinical safety. Experience handling challenging or distressed patients; carers; service users calmly and professionally.
