Job Summary
The cover Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all visitors, staff, and assets within varied sites within Glasgow and surrounding areas. This role involves patrolling the premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and providing excellent customer service to maintain a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrolling: Conduct regular foot patrols of the sites, including car parks, to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe environment.
- Surveillance Monitoring: Operate and monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment to detect and respond to suspicious activities.
- Incident Response: Quickly and effectively respond to emergencies, including first aid situations, fire alarms, theft, and other security incidents. Escalate issues to the relevant authorities as needed.
- Access Control: Monitor and control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed entry.
- Customer Service: Provide assistance and information to visitors and staff, maintaining a visible and approachable presence. Handle lost property and assist in locating missing persons when necessary.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents, observations, and patrols. Submit daily activity reports to the Security Supervisor/Manager.
- Collaboration: Work closely with law enforcement, emergency services, and shopping centre management to ensure coordinated responses to security issues.
- Compliance: Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements related to security operations.
- Training: Participate in regular training sessions on security procedures, first aid, fire safety, and other relevant topics.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence.
- Preferred CCTV licence or prepared to gain.
- Previous experience in a security role, preferably within a retail or shopping centre environment.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high pressure situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with CCTV operation and monitoring.

Working Conditions
