We are seeking motivated and analytical Finance Project Leads to join the Finance Directorate in supporting the delivery of the Sustainability & Value Programme workstreams. Reporting to the Programme Finance Manager - Sustainability & Value, the post holder will provide high-quality financial analysis, planning, monitoring and reporting to support programme and project teams. You will work across a portfolio of improvement initiatives, ensuring that schemes are financially robust, deliverable, and aligned to governance requirements and financial plans. This is a key developmental role at the interface between Finance, operational services and programme teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial & Project Support
    • Provide financial support to S&V and financial improvement projects
    • Support development of financially viable business cases, costings and savings profiles
    • Contribute to options appraisal and financial impact assessments
  • Financial Planning & Performance
    • Support preparation of budgets, forecasts and savings plans
    • Monitor financial performance and highlight variances and risks
    • Track delivery of savings and financial benefits
  • Reporting & Analysis
    • Produce regular financial reporting and analysis for Programme Boards
    • Ensure reporting is accurate, timely and aligned with corporate requirements
    • Analyse financial and activity data to support decision-making
  • Governance & Assurance
    • Ensure compliance with Standing Financial Instructions and governance frameworks
    • Support audit requirements and maintain appropriate financial documentation
    • Contribute to consistent financial processes and controls
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with clinical, operational and programme teams
    • Present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
    • Build effective working relationships across services

About You
You will be a proactive and collaborative finance professional with experience supporting financial management within a complex organisation. You will bring:

  • Experience in financial management, budgeting and reporting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and present complex financial information clearly
  • Experience supporting projects, programmes or service improvement initiatives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines

Essential
Part-qualified accountant or equivalent experience

Desirable
Experience within NHS or public sector finance
Project management or improvement experience (e.g. PRINCE2, QI)
Advanced Excel/data analysis skills
