We are looking for a Trainee Prototype Technician to join the team in Newcastle. This role will support the creation of packaging prototypes, mock-ups, and customer samples within a fast-paced packaging development environment. This is an entry-level position designed for someone with a keen interest in packaging, graphics, artwork, and practical hands-on creative work. The role will provide training in packaging construction, artwork application, prototype production, and Adobe Creative Suite software. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Prototype Technicians, Packaging Designers, and Colour/Pre Press teams to develop technical and creative skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the production of packaging mock-ups and prototypes.
- Support artwork application onto cartons, labels, sleeves, and other packaging formats.
- Learn to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for artwork preparation and editing.
- Assist in operating cutting equipment, printers, laminators, and finishing tools.
- Build and assemble packaging samples to customer and internal standards.
- Prepare materials and components for prototype projects.
- Support customer presentations and innovation projects.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised prototype studio environment.
- Learn packaging materials, print processes, and finishing techniques.
- Work closely with designers and development teams on creative packaging solutions.
