Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all aspects of general labouring & housekeeping duties to allow for products to be finished on time and to a high standard for customers.
  • Assist Glass operatives where required in the production process.
  • Adhere to health & safety regulations when operating machinery and handling products.
  • Comply with the requirements for the role as set out within the company's Employee Handbook & Integrated Management System.
  • Handle & store glass in a factory in a safe manner, which may involve operating lifting equipment.
  • Keep work areas and the factory floor clean, safe & tidy; organised & free from hazardous material.
  • Operate and clean assembly and production machinery and hand‑held tools.
  • Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities.
  • Comply with company PPE policy, wearing all requisite PPE when carrying out a task.
  • Inform supervisors of quality issues.
  • Finish glass to a high standard, ensuring high quality.
  • Monitor and conduct basic quality checks as detailed in the QCC process.
  • Adhere to operational procedures and production timelines.
  • Execute daily work instructions received from the supervisor in a timely manner, complying with company policies, procedures, and instructions at all times.
  • Prepare and package materials and products in accordance with specified standards.
  • Assist with the production control process where applicable.
  • Load and unload goods/materials to and from vehicles and storage.
  • Contribute to improving the business, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change.
  • Undertake other duties within your competence or otherwise appropriate to the grading of the post as required.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate an awareness of health & safety within the workplace.
  • Proven ability to understand quality control techniques.
  • Possess strong physical strength and stamina.
  • Ability to operate popular glass production equipment and tools.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independence, whilst also working as a team.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions and keep accurate records.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and peers.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills to meet delivery schedules and complete assigned jobs, in order to meet customer expectations.
  • Proven proficiency as forklift operator.
  • Awareness of, and commitment to, equality of opportunity.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of equalities in the workplace.
