We are seeking Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMN) for our Specialist Eating Disorders Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team at Haldon Unit, a 10 bedded unit in Exeter, Devon. Devon Partnership NHS Trust is growing as we establish ourselves as one of the leading providers of mental health services in the country.

Main duties of the job

  • The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, commitment to working flexibly, participation in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services, and be able to demonstrate effective working in a multi‑disciplinary team setting.
  • This role is on a ward that operates on a 24/7 shift basis and therefore enables staff to qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to their basic pay.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making and clinical leadership skills for running the ward as the Nurse in Charge.
  • We are looking for a person centred Nurse who is compassionate and caring towards the patients in our care.
  • Supporting patients at mealtimes and the opportunity to learn additional clinical skills such as NG feeding are integral to the role.
  • There will be an excellent level of professionalism demonstrated in the successful candidate who leads by example and supports junior staff through supervision and when leading the shift.
  • The successful candidate will be able to attend our newly designed eating disorder induction where they will be able to expand upon their knowledge and skills to assist them in care delivery.

Person Specification (Qualifications)

  • RMN/ Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration.
  • A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training with adjustments considered if required).

Experience

  • Experience working as a Band 5 RMN.
  • Experience of working with people with an eating disorder.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£32,073 to £39,043 a year. Plus unsocial enhancements for weekends and nights.
