The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Events Management to join our academic team. You will contribute to high-quality, practice-based teaching, supporting students to develop creative, technical, and professional skills required to design, manage, and deliver impactful events. This role offers the opportunity to teach across core areas of events management, contribute to curriculum development, and support student progression within a dynamic, industry-aligned programme focused on real-world application and creative practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate modules in events management
- Design and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions using blended and experiential teaching approaches
- Teach key subject areas including:
- Creative project management and live event delivery
- Experience design and audience engagement
- Event marketing, programming, and communications
- Financial, operational, and risk management
- Client, stakeholder, and supplier management
- Entrepreneurship and creative business development
- Develop and maintain up-to-date teaching materials on the Virtual Learning Environment, informed by industry practice
- Facilitate active learning through live projects, case studies, and real-world event delivery
- Design, set, assess, and moderate coursework in line with programme and awarding body requirements
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student development and achievement
- Support student engagement, attendance, progression, and overall academic success
- Act as a personal tutor, guiding students through academic and professional development
- Participate in internal moderation, standardisation, and external examiner processes
- Contribute to curriculum development, programme review, and quality assurance activities
- Embed inclusivity, social impact, and ethical practice within teaching and assessment
- Integrate digital tools, data-informed approaches, and emerging technologies (including AI) into teaching practice
- Engage with industry partners to support live briefs, projects, and collaborative initiatives
- Participate in academic committees, assessment boards, and team meetings
- Engage in ongoing professional and scholarly development
About You
- Postgraduate qualification (Master's minimum) in Events Management or a related discipline
- First degree in Events Management or a closely related subject
- Experience teaching in higher education or further education
- Experience designing, assessing, and moderating academic assessments
- Strong understanding of events management in practice, including project delivery and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to deliver practice-based, experiential teaching using real-world contexts
- Experience supporting student engagement and progression within diverse cohorts
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge
- Current or recent industry experience in events, festivals, or the creative industries
- Experience supporting live projects or industry-based learning
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
- Experience working with students with English as a second language
- Experience working within awarding body partnerships or quality assurance frameworks
