North Star helps challenger brands win - giving them the commercial insight, category thinking, and strategic firepower they need to take on the giants of retail. Now, they're looking for a Head of Marketing to help us scale that impact.
This is not a "sit back and set strategy" Head of Marketing role. This is for someone who wants to build and run a marketing engine from the ground up - turning insight into influence, campaigns into conversations, and conversations into commercial growth. You’ll work directly with the founders to shape how North Star shows up in the world, while personally owning the campaigns, systems, and activity that drive awareness, demand, and revenue.
What you’ll be doing:
- Build and lead North Star’s marketing function from scratch
- Design and run high-impact B2B marketing campaigns that drive awareness and inbound demand
- Own demand generation end-to-end; from campaign idea to qualified pipeline
- Turn our insight and thinking into compelling content, thought leadership, events, and webinars
- Build and manage our CRM (HubSpot), including segmentation, automation, and reporting
- Create repeatable playbooks, systems, and processes to scale marketing effectively
- Work closely with founders and the commercial team to connect marketing directly to revenue
- Strengthen client relationships through marketing that drives retention and advocacy
- Over time, build and lead a small, high-performing team
Who we’re looking for:
- You’re a doer as much as a thinker - someone who enjoys building, not just managing.
- 5-8 years’ experience in marketing, with strong B2B experience
- Proven track record of running campaigns that generate real commercial outcomes
- Hands on experience with CRM and marketing automation (HubSpot ideally)
- Able to turn complex ideas into clear, engaging content
- Strong understanding of FMCG, retail, or challenger brand ecosystems (highly valuable)
- Commercially minded; you care about pipeline, revenue, and impact
- A builder mindset; you enjoy creating structure, systems, and scalable processes
- Comfortable in a fast moving scale up where not everything is defined yet
You might not have held the "Head of Marketing" title before – but you’ve already been operating at that level.
Why this role, why now?
North Star has grown through reputation and results. But the opportunity ahead is much bigger. We’re ready to build a marketing engine that consistently drives awareness, influence, and inbound demand – and you’ll play the lead role in making that happen.
This is a genuine opportunity to:
- Shape a brand and function from the ground up
- Work directly with founders
- Build something that has real impact in the challenger brand ecosystem
- Grow into a senior leader (and beyond) as the business scales
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 DOE
Logistics: Reading, minimum 2 days a week in person
