We aim to transform the future of students in a highly deprived community. We are recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs), who receive extensive support to develop into future teachers and leaders. Successful GTAs may remain at Soane as trainee teachers after a year in the role. GTAs support students who find it hardest to meet behaviour, effort and academic progress expectations. They facilitate interventions in literacy, emotional regulation, personal organisation and relationship building, and coach students to become their best selves.

Start Date Available to start in September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver small interventions to individuals and small groups, including literacy, emotional regulation and personal organisation.
  • Coach and develop students to become their best version.
  • Support teachers by providing coaching and co‑planning.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience working with children.
  • Drive and enthusiasm to inspire students and coach them.

Benefits

  • Leaders at Soane minimise unnecessary demands on teacher time, allowing teachers to focus on high‑impact teaching.
  • Open‑door culture with frequent low‑stakes feedback and collaboration.
  • Twice as many training days as standard.
  • Weekly staff training designed to meet the needs of the school.
  • Coaching for every teacher.
  • Protected co‑planning time.
  • Access to high‑quality, regular professional development.

Diversity and Inclusion

We aim to build a diverse and inclusive organisation where staff and students can do their best work and achieve their full potential. Ark reflects and represents diverse perspectives across the organisation.

Safeguarding Statement

Ark is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in its academies. We follow a rigorous selection process to screen out unsuitable applicants, requiring an enhanced DBS check and disclosure of any unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Non‑disclosure may lead to termination of employment; disclosure of a criminal background does not automatically disqualify applicants, depending on the nature of the offence and when it occurred.

Please note we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis; this role may close earlier than advertised depending on the level of response.
