Choice Facilities Services are seeking a passionate, hardworking individual to join our team and fulfil the role of Domestic Assistant. The closing date is 27 May 2026, but the advert may close earlier due to high application volume.

The role is an exciting opportunity for people who are motivated, flexible, task focused and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out all cleaning assigned, using guidance, training and checklists, and ensure compliance with National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021.
  • Provide beverage service to patients and visitors as required.
  • Ensure equipment and machinery are fit for purpose before use, and clean and store them properly after use.
  • Use materials and consumables in accordance with best practice.
  • Collect, segregate and dispose waste materials, and replace liners in accordance with policy.
  • Pack, sort, deliver and collect linen.
  • Undertake manual and mechanical cleaning activities as per the cleaning schedule.
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are completed and checked daily.
  • Re fill all dispensers, including soap, hand towels, toilet rolls and paper rolls.
  • Provide emergency and ad hoc cleaning as required.
  • Clean in close proximity to patients: beds, windows, curtain rails, window ledges, tables and lockers.
  • Work safely at all times, considering yourself and others.
  • Use appropriate work equipment and PPE, and report any maintenance, safety deficiencies and incidents to a member of the supervisory team.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
  • Maintain cleanliness of entrances, work areas and grounds as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Basic numeracy and literacy education.
  • Cleaning experience.
  • Basic food hygiene certificate.
  • Good understanding of cleaning services.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to accept and prioritise instructions.
  • Previous experience working with cleaning machinery.
  • Ability to undertake varied manual handling tasks, including use of machinery and movement of beds and other equipment.
  • Physical stamina for bending, lifting, standing and walking frequently.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment.
