This exceptional SEND school in Birmingham is seeking a dynamic and inspirational Director of Maths to join its leadership team from September or January.

This is a unique opportunity to lead mathematics across a highly respected specialist school that supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and a range of additional learning needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an ambitious and engaging maths curriculum that enables every pupil to make outstanding progress, regardless of their starting point.

The Role

  • Lead and develop mathematics provision across the school
  • Design and implement an ambitious and engaging maths curriculum
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment
  • Support and develop teachers across the maths curriculum
  • Monitor pupil progress and use data to inform school improvement
  • Ensure maths teaching is appropriately adapted for pupils with SEND
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop whole‐school initiatives
  • Promote high expectations, achievement and a love of learning

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong subject knowledge and a proven track record of success in maths
  • Experience leading a maths department, faculty or whole‑school maths strategy
  • A good understanding of SEND, particularly ASC and MLD
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes for all learners
  • The ability to inspire both pupils and colleagues
