Qualifications, Training and Experience Required:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent
- Prior experience in a similar role in a formal childcare setting, or the desire and ability to progress from Nursery Practitioner to Room Leader/Deputy
- Sound EYFS knowledge and experience
- Working knowledge of OFSTED standards
- Ability to work well in partnership with parents/agencies
- An ability to organise own work and use initiative
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- People management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a staff team, organise the team's work and assume responsibility for the same
- Working knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe environment for children
- Support children's learning and development
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly checks around the nursery
- Help with meal preparation
- Develop and maintain good relationships with local schools and the community
- Support children's behaviour and act as a role model
- Ensure the environment is stimulating and appropriate, including equal opportunities
- Assist with the day-to-day general management of the nursery and uphold Policies & Procedures alongside EYFS and statutory guidelines
- Work closely with the Nursery Manager to ensure the nursery provides the best possible standards of care and education
