Cut and Crease Operator - Folded Carton Packaging

Salary - depending on experience

Hours:

  • Double days i.e. Earlies: 06:00-14:05 with unpaid 20min break - Monday-Friday (38.75hrs)
  • Lates: 13:55-22:00 with unpaid 20min break Monday-Thursday (31hrs) + 13:55-19:10 with no break as this is below 6hrs (5.25hrs): 36.25hrs
  • Total: 75hrs Average over the two shifts: 37.5hrs

Overview:

My client is looking for a skilled Cut & Crease Operator. You will be responsible for the output of high-quality value-add folding carton packaging, namely focusing on complex die-cutting processes including decorative finishing (embossing) and cross-functionality in other areas. This role requires a level of autonomy, high operational proficiency, thorough quality inspection, and detailed ongoing machine maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Read and accurately interpret complex production instructions
  • Cut, crease & emboss on BOBST SP 102 SE
  • Quality check and inspect own production, ensuring consistency and attention to detail
  • Achieving target speeds to maintain departmental performance
  • Control of departmental documentation, parts & consumables
  • Shared responsibility for the cut & crease department, reporting to the Managing Director
  • Work quickly and accurately to meet target deadlines
  • Machine maintenance and 5S principles
  • Participate and adhere to Health & Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid and Waste Management duties

Candidate requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role involving BOBST or similar cut & crease machinery and operations is essential
  • Previous experience in folding carton manufacturing or similar is essential
  • Previous experience with decorative embossing, single-level, multi-level, sculpted is advantageous
  • Previous experience with other finishing machinery and operations such as guillotine / other is desirable
  • Ability to quickly learn new machine operations, IT software and systems
  • Strong IT skills, including familiarity with bespoke systems and the Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Professional and positive communication skills
  • Experience or knowledge of Health and Safety, Fire Safety, First Aid is advantageous
  • Valid forklift truck licence is advantageous
  • Willingness to contribute flexibly across different areas of production operations
  • Genuine 'whatever it takes to deliver' attitude
