Proud to Serve. Proud to keep justice going. Our Crown Court Clerks are essential to ensure Crown Court hearings run smoothly. They speak confidently in court, liaise effectively with the Judge and all participants, and produce accurate and timely court documents. The Crown Court Clerk training programme offers a structured yet flexible approach to building the skills required for this vital role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth running of all Crown Courts sitting daily, intervening in court when required.
  • Maximise judicial sitting time and maintain court efficiency.
  • Produce precise, time critical documentation including verdicts, arraignments, court orders and hearing outcomes.
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with complex and sensitive matters.
  • Adapt quickly to new systems and technologies as digital solutions evolve.

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to speak publicly and within a courtroom environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to complete documents accurately and meet deadlines.
  • IT proficiency with the capability to learn and adapt to different technologies and software packages.
  • Experience working within processes and handling sensitive information.

  • Wolverhampton Combined Court, Pipers Row, WV1 3LQ
  • Worcester Combined Court, The Shirehall, Foregate Street, WR1 1EQ

Travel to other Crown Court locations within the West Midlands Region may be required on a rota basis once fully trained.

  • Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after five years of service.
