This is a great opportunity for a Newly Qualified Criminal Lawyer to transition from Legal Aid work into privately funded criminal defence within a well-established firm.

An established criminal defence firm is seeking a Newly Qualified Solicitor to join its busy team, with a particular focus on privately funded criminal work. The role will involve handling a varied caseload of criminal matters, supporting Senior Lawyers on complex cases and taking responsibility for your own files where appropriate. You will be involved in all aspects of case preparation, including client liaison, drafting legal documents and progressing matters through to conclusion. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor currently working within a criminal legal aid environment to transition into private criminal defence work within a supportive and well-regarded firm. You will also be encouraged to contribute to the continued growth of the practice through developing client relationships and supporting business development initiatives.

THE CANDIDATE: You will be a Newly Qualified Solicitor with experience in criminal law, ideally gained within a criminal Legal Aid setting and will be looking to move into privately funded criminal work. You will have a strong understanding of criminal procedure and be confident in managing your own workload with appropriate supervision. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a professional and proactive approach and the ability to build strong relationships with clients. You will be highly organised, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and motivated to develop your career within private criminal defence.
