We have an exciting opportunity to join NHS Talking Therapies as an Accredited Counsellor within our West Team in Chichester. You will provide Step 3 short‑term counselling interventions through Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE CfD), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) or Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD) within the service.
Responsibilities
- Provide Step 3 short‑term counselling interventions using the approved modalities.
- Work within the service and, if not already IAPT compliant, undertake training in an IAPT approved modality within one year of joining.
- Demonstrate extensive experience of treating patients within a time‑limited counselling model and of providing triage assessments.
- Manage own caseload, meet agreed service targets and deliver interventions in line with NICE guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records in the NHS IAPT system (e.g., IAPTus) and adhere to confidentiality, data protection and ethical guidelines.
- Travel to the West Team areas (Chichester and surrounding). If not a car owner, state alternative travel arrangements.
Qualifications & Registration
- Registered as BACP Accredited, UKCP Registered (Psychotherapist or Psychotherapeutic Counsellor), ACC Accredited, NCS Accredited Professional Registrant, or British Psychoanalytic Council Registrant.
- Diploma level professional qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy recognised by the relevant accrediting bodies.
- Accreditation in an IAPT approved therapy model (IPT, DIT, CFD, or CCFD). If not accredited, will be under NHS Band 6 with funded training to Band 7 within 12 months.
- Minimum 150 hours post‑qualification client contacts.
- Experience as a Primary Care Counsellor and working therapeutically with patients with long‑term conditions and/or medically unexplained symptoms.
- Membership of a relevant professional body and registration with HCPC, BACP, UKCP, or equivalent.
Experience & Skills
- Experience of working with a wide range of clients presenting multiple and complex issues.
- Ability to manage own caseload, time and meet service targets.
- Proficient with NHS electronic record systems (e.g., IAPTus) and general office software (email, Outlook, Word, Internet).
- Strong record keeping, confidentiality, data protection, and ethical practice skills.
- Flexibility to deliver interventions (CFP, IPT, DIT, CCFD) across different client needs.
